About

Westmount is a small, beautiful and rather exclusive city right on the egde  to downtown Montreal (In Quebec, Canada).  Westmounters think that they are better than other Montrealers.  Maybe not , but Westmounters are definitely different.  My blog describes the everyday life of a Westmount (soon to be ex-)Wife and my family.
Names will be changed to protect the guilty, and events and activities modified slightly to ensure anonymity, but this is a work of fact, not fiction.

Originally from Toronto, I came to Montreal to attend McGill and never left.  My (soon to be ex-)husband , lets call him JP, is a Westmounter through and through. His entire education was contained within a few blocks.    I suspect he rarely went east of Atwater , and only then for an illicit underage beer on the main, until he attended  McGill

I am in my early 40s, and after a somewhat successful career in marketing in the pharma industry, I took time off to have kids and never went back.  I have a pretend job with a not-for-profit that  barely pays but gives me some kind of purpose.

JP ((soon to be ex-)husband) works in the financial industry, where he makes a good living without having to work too hard.
We have 2 wonderful kids.  The oldest, a boy,  in elementary school and a little girl in kindergarten.
Westmount is a small city-within-a-city on the edge downtown  Montreal.  Unlike most of Quebec, english is the lingua franca, although an increasing number of francophones call it home.   At times, more like something out of the  ’20s rather than 2012, where people live a more civilised life.  Part nouveau, part old money, the community has a busy social life around kids and schools, sports and clubs, fundraisers and good old partying.
